How to Convert Inches to Yards?

To convert inches (in) to yards (yd), you need to know the basic relationship between these units. One yard equals 36 inches, so to find out how many yards a measurement in inches represents, you divide the number of inches by 36.

For example, if you have 72 inches and want to know how many yards that is, you divide 72 ÷ 36. The result is 2 yards. Another example is 90 inches, which becomes 90 ÷ 36 = 2.5 yards. Using this method, you can easily calculate how many yards are in any number of inches.
